Default Redoing tank

hey guys well i started a saltwater tank last august towards teh end. it was my first tank -55 gallon and i didnt really kno wat to do. i learned and i finally had the right equipment and everything. i eventually started to buy some fish and they died. i tried to fix the problems and then i got a few more fish. they died also. after that i just gave up. my tank has been sitting in my basement since about january or february. it has about 45lbs of live rock and i havent really done anything to it. theres a couple of corals and they look bad. i havent switched out the water or cleaned it. i havent turned on the lights or the filter. pretty much the only thing runnning is one powerhead. i would like to know if i can salvage anythign. i mean the rock looks okay but anything else. i have about 40lbs of sand that i had gotten. it was calcium carbonate and i added some bacteria to it in the beginning. im pretty sure its dead now . i need some tips on how i can restart this tank. thanks a bunch

I'm surprised you still have some coral if you have left the lights off. What kind of equipment do you have? Lights? Filtration?

Sometimes things happen in our lives where we can no longer afford to keep the tank up a running... whether it be because of time or money. My first reef tank got neglected for almost 2 months once because I couldn't afford the upkeep...Stuff happens. Not to say that that is what happened here, but something to keep in mind.

Fish can survive in pretty horrid conditions but low O2 from low flow or high ammonia. I would guess you have inadequant water flow for proper O2 exchange.

This is what I did, I followed the threads named Part 1, part 2 and part 3, pretty much to the letter. I don't know if you've seen them so just thought I'd mention them, very helpful!
