i like to keep the water a little higher than it is right now. no particular reason i just like it that way.

If your going for a reef tank (keeping corals) your going to want to replace that substrate with live sand. So you might as well do it now since its easier.

I disagree. What you have is fine. Sand or Argonite or chushed Coral all are o.k. even if some are bias toward one.
