to anyone who had been following this thread,i finally beat the cyano outbreak in my tank.after hours of constant siphoning and a couple of good 25 gallon water changes my tank is absolutely perfect.it has been a long three weeks,it did come with a price however as i lost most of my snails and a purple porcelain crab.i did not loose any fish.my sand is back to pure white and the coraline is spreading like wild fire.i will post a pic. tonite.

So how are you feeling about the condition of your tank these days Bob? It looks cloudy to me in those pics you posted. I see you may have lost a fish or two in the attack on the cyano.

no,the hawk perches on the power heads all of the time.he has to twist his body to look around.
the tank is awesome.the picture with the hawk has alot of flash reflecting off of the glass.there may be a little cloudy as i had just added some purple up.
i did not lose any fish, just some snails and a porcelain crab

the hawk fish looks great is it aggresive ?? what do you feed it ?? oo and i herd that adding purple up can raise the PH so i would look into that

the ph has been holding at 8.2.
the hawk fish is not agressive at all.he eats copods and now i have him eating frozen shrimp and regular flake food.when he eats the flakes on the surface his beak sticks out of the water and he makes popping sounds,he is pretty cool.

The LN hawk is a jumper so beware. I lost one that way. Hawkfish like shrimp so make sure your shrimp are decent sized and it will prob be ok.

Purple up is said to LOWER your Ph. I have tried it and think it prob does to some extent. I keep a close eye on my tank params so I just controlled the dosage carefully and didnt have a prob. I used it just to see for myself what it would do. No biggee.

i have no intentions on putting any live shrimp in the tank.the lfs owner said that he had one and it killed a couple of his shrimp by grabbing them in its jaws and smashing them against the lr.i feed him frozen shrimp every once and a while.i have had him for about three months and he is very easy to care for.
