Icon5 can i just use a bio wheel for fowlr?

i was wondering if i can just use a bio wheel and no sump for a fowlr 29gallon?
someday want to do a nano reef in it but want to start out small. i was thinking about a couple of dwarf angels but heard they cant go together. is that true? also i heard you can only have 4 or 5 fish in this size of tank is that true? and if it is why? if it is what kind do you suggest?

thanks

Hi channing, o.k. let's try to help. Yes a bio wheel will do fine I used one myself when I was starting out. Make sure you get the right size for your tank.

Yes it is true about the dwarfs. They usually will squabble for territory. I will suggest a coral beauty and maybe a Clown fish and a Royal Gramma. These are hardy and have a lot of personality.

The thing about the number of fish is you don't want it crowded as this brings disputes and stress and makes more waste to get rid of. You did not say how long your tank has been running and what you have in it now.

I will suggest that when you post and are asking for help or for ideas, please include all basic information. Basic information should include; all water parameters, size of tank and complete set up meaning, filter type (sump, canister etc.), lighting (what type and total output)plus what is your lighting schedule
(how long a period are your actinic and daylights on) and if you have fish only with live rock and if you keep corals. Also how long the tank has been up. I know some of this is in your bio but many bios don't contain this info. How many times has someone posted and then there is this list of postings addressing the above. If you give the most info you can to give us a good profile, it will cut down on response time and mis-diagnosis or answers that don't fit and we will all benefit.

I have been running my 125 on biowheels and have had 0 nitrates. just make sure you get one rated for your tank. I probibly would even go a bit more.
