Hey Dori!

The whole salt thing has really been beat to death here in the threads. If you do a search on it you will find what people are using. You can also scroll to the bottom of the page and see 5 more threads that are about the same topic you have asked about.

I use the best salt...Tropic Marin....lol

Everyone uses different salts, but as long as you don’t use the bargain price salts you should be good. I use Reef Crystals my self, but that’s just because I can get two for the price of one when my LFS orders tons of it.

I use the instant ocean professional mix boxes, why they say professional is beyond me.

200 gallon mix boxes (four 50 gallon mix bags in the box)

I was using reef crystals until I could get the boxs.

Keep in mind, I run a Ca reactor and dose trace elements every 2 weeks.

I used Instant Ocean, but had to constantly supplement magnesium and calcium. I have gradually moved to Reef Crystals, which has higher base line levels of these minerals. It is still necessary to supplement, because coral use up these minerals, but I don't have to add as much as with IO. If you have a light coral load, IO would probably be fine.
