Default cheato how much is to much

I have a 225 gallon tank with two 55 gallon tanks as my sump and fuge. when i first started the fuge i had two hand fulls of cheato well they have grown wonderfully and now the whole 55 is taken up with cheato as the other 55 is the sump but i guess you figured that out by now . Anyway my question is do i cut some out and if so how much and is there a certain part that i should cut out.

Without seeing it if the Chaeto has doubled - cut it in half and let it grow again. It is doing what it is designed to do which is absorb nutrient as it grows. Now to do what you want it to do, export those nutrients, you need to trim it back and what you take out will take out nutrient with it. You can also sell what you harvest to other reefers and sometimes to your LFS>
