Default Looking for lights

I have a 55 gallon tank with two seperate light fixtures on top. I am working on a reef tank and plan on having various types of hard and soft corral. I have been searching the net for a retro fit kit that would fit in the existing plastic hoods or replacement fixtures that will replace the hoods and give me the 4 watt per gallon , or as close as possible. Each fixture is 22 in. long, 4 3/8 wide and 2 3/8 deep. Does anyone know what i can use? I am on a fixed budget and around 200.00 is all i can spend. Thanks for ur help

I have one better for you, but I don't know how "hard" of corals you'll be able to keep with these....but it will give you about 4.7 watts per gallon if that's all you're looking for.

48" 260W (4-65 watt) Dual Strip Compact Fluorescent Light Fixture

Hope that helps a little

I've recently purchased that exact same light setup that Volitan mentioned. I don't have any inverts in there yet to determine how they will sustain life...BUT...I can say that having the three cords to allow for the actinics to be on for a couple hours..then all of them..then actinics only to simulate the natural 24 hour light cycle is pretty cool. All works well and was real easy to mount.

Good luck to you!

Mattie

PS..I wouldn't have gotten as far as I have without the help of Volitan and others in here so I have to say thanks to them as well..
