Default Plumbing Question

Hello everyone!

Well building my first reef set up. It is a 55 gallon tank with a 20 gallon, long Sump/Ref. I have ordered a overflow and it says it is a 3/4" bulkhead fitting. Now my question would be what is the thread size coming out the bottom? Can i attach a 3/4 FPT X 3/4 Barb fitting to it or do i need something like a 1" by 3/4 barbed fitting?

Thanks for any help its hard to get the stuff and size it all up by visual look and description alone. I hope to have it up and going this coming weekend if i get the plumbing parts needed in time since Lowe's does not have what i need.

Thanks again

Rob

I was going to order the supplies from marineandreef. I know there sumwhat spendy and all but from what i have read around here a soft material is better than PVC plumbing. I was trying to get all the stuff from one place and not make 5 orders all over to get what i need at a better price.

Thanks Rob

If you are going to get an overflow, most are slip fits from the overflow to the sump, so you would just slide your hose (which should be provided with the overflow) into the sump.

You then need to get a return pump for your sump back into your auquarium. Usually the pump specs will let you know what size tubing to get, I have 3/4 on mine, I run a mag 12 pump back from the sump into my main display tank.

My overflow is the CPR CS50 My tank is only 55 gallons with a 20L sump. I did get all my ideas from here for it. I beleave it to be prety good but if i can i will post a pic some time after i get it up and running. As for the pump i was going to get a GenX that does 633 gph. The biggest reson for this is the room i have in the sump for the pump.

You need to email them the specs of that pump so you know what plumbing connections to buy, the website does not say.
