Feeling clammy?

Cleaner shrimp, Doing its job on a Green tipped Toadstool

Previous Arrangement

Plate Anemones. These Died. Goodbye $180!
Notice the dirty floor, I was having an incredibly hard time keeping up with the cleaning back then. But I've stepped up my game and have been keeping up.

Last but not least one of my really old pictures, I like this one the best. (minus the dirty lower left) :-P

I have now been running some new equipment on my tank as well. A Fluval 405 canister filter and a Seaclone 100 skimmer. Along with the stock filter pads and Biowheel that are built into the hood. The biggest problem with this tank is the hood. It is very hard to fit any equipment at all into the tank with the Hood, We had to either mod the product or the hood with everything we bought, which became a pain.

Talk about a tight squeeze! :O

Much use out of the dremel tool on this side, Had to cut a lot out of the top to get all the wires to fit through it(for the powerheads, light, heater, etc). There is a black top with a few cutts in it too that goes over it all as well, Most of the cutts were made to fit the canister filter on.

If you notice in the newer picture with the light, the orange and red "cave dwellers" aka sea sponges. They survive with barely any light at all. They were added a few weeks ago to my tank and i love them.

Krazy, about that Pink Tip Anemone, It lived about, hmm.. a year and a half? and then it decided to take a vacation from the rock it was attached to and the filter sucked him up And that was the end of anemones in my reef. lol.

Over time I have decide and learned some things for my tanks to come, and i would like to share them with you. I will not put an anemone in my next tank. Reason being: It moves around and disrupts other corals when it touches them or when its trying to find a new home. If i do purchase an anemone, I will keep it to the plates which cannot move. Hermit Crabs, yes they were cool the first time i got them but when they started taking out my $3 turbo snails one by one I gave them away. I enjoyed them for one thing, they cleaned up my dead fish, but i can do that by hand and keep my ninja snails alive. Cylurpa in main tank SHOOT ME! :-p It took me over a a year and a half to almost get it out of my tank by hand picking it. It was like weeding a garden every three weeks. (Keep the greens in the fuge :-P). Never again I will not be purchasing another Flame Scallop, I heard various things about these, like they need to be fed 7 times a day and dont last long in captivity, mine lasted a year feeding it weekly. lol. My main reason for not getting another one was because it was annoying as hell when it started flipping around and stirring up the sand and it hid in the back most of the time where noone could see it. Pepermint shrimp, Yeah they take care of those little pesty anemones(SOMETIMES) but when my $15 featherduster and $60 coco worm were being eatten before my eyes i wasn't such a happy camper :-P. Cleaner shrimp. Serpant Star, Yeah it was cool to feed and get some wows from my friends but personally I felt uneasy when i was cleaning my tank. It also just hit the entire time in the back. Another deal about the cleaning was the spiky black urchin(vemomous) yeah I was never in the mood to get one of those suckers in my hand when i was deep diving for algea :-P Those are just my personal thoughts on the creatures though. lol. Also when the urchin died all of the "pokers" made a mess in my tank. I had a shallow sandbed, I will be making my next tanks atleast 2-4" deep, It just looks nicer and makes it easier to put stuff on it. My greatest investment I believe was my canister filter others could problably say differently but thats just my personal opinion. Once again I am not trying to put out any bad images for these creatures i am just saying my personal opinions on them after keeping them in my tank. "The bigger the tank, the more room for mistakes." I only have a nano because i am limited by the amount of space we have for fish. (and my mother :-P) NO OFFENCE to anyone

If anyone here is interested in freshwater tanks I recently have improved my setup Live bamboo

Thanks for stopping by to see how my tanks been doing and leave comment for me (keep them kind)

Dan & John.
