The rumble rock is a cheaper form of live rock that my fish store sells for $4 a pound. It is cured peices of dead rock but they come in little broken off peices of big rock so they are cheaper. I am going to get a few peices of it and put in in the part of my filter where the Bio wheel and filter pad go so i will have a biological filter. I think this will work as a good filter.

If anyone doesn't think this will work please tell me.

thankks,
Dan

Why spend 4.00 pound on rubble ? you can get full LR off ebay for 2.95+_ around 95cents a pound for shipping is it just cause it's local ? Just curious

I don't want rumble rock for in my tank that is just going to be put in the filter for a biological filter so i dont want big peices. I am also going to purchase most of my live rock though from my lfs because its local and i want to pick my peices out. Plus i want to buy it from my lfs because the owner there has really helped me out with hooking me up with a cheap tank deal(it was his tank from his house). I will consider buying some live rock off ebay though if its really that cheap.

thankks
Dan

Default same tank..

Nice, we share the same tank..

Mine has been running for over a month, so far so easy, no issues, had a dwarf angel die but i'm sure he was sick (everything else is fine)...

I also removed the bio-wheel and added some rubble, actually a double benefit it added some weight and removed some vibration noise...

Good fun...

I added 40 pounds of live sand and about 17 pounds of live rock. I also got about 2 or 3 pounds of rumble rock for the filter and i purchased pads to catch any of the really fine sand and help clear up the water.

Boombadan, I added some dead head coral that I also picked up diving, and it turned brown and nasty with. the diatom bloom YUCK!! Took it out, cleaned it and put it back on the shelf. The next coral I add is going to be live coral (but not in the near future).

Yeh ill have to check that out and get some

Heres a pick of inside my filter except you cant see but under the filter pad there is more rumble rock. I dont want to puck it up and dump the sand back into my tank to stire it up so i didnt take a pick of that.

Home Depot or Lowes did not have it. I never thought of Walmart (don't usually go in there). Makes me wish I lived back in Tucson; at least it is warmer there!

boombadan,

Do you plan on upgrading your lighting? I'm searching for retro fits now, We share the same tank, just wondering if you gave this any thought? 36watts stock just isnt enough..

I'm running a nano protein skimmer also, I'm searching for a better, big skimmer that I can wedge in a free corner,

I now have a soft and plate coral growing and seeming happy.
