Default dead live rock

hey guys i have a quick qeustion i went to the beach the other day and i found some great very pourus dead liive rock washed up from a recent storm the were on the shore all white


will it be ok to soak them in bleach

I would think not. I would be afraid of the bleach getting deep into the rock and then leeching out into your system. If you wanted to do anything, I would consider boiling before bleaching

Do some FW dips to the rock to see if any hitchhikers come loose. Scrub the rock with a brush to remove detritus and possible algae spores, then do some more FW dips. I would QT the LR for a couple weeks to cycle it and ensure there aren't any pesky critters waiting to disrupt your tank. Be very careful when adding things straight from the ocean. Not only is it risky, but it is also much harder to keep wild livestock alive in captivity mainly because the ocean's water parameters are always spot on and rarely ever fluctuate greatly. It takes a lot of dedication, persistence, patience and cash flow to simulate something that happens completely naturally. The slightest change can create the biggest problem.. Not to mention in most places, taking from the ocean is illegal.. Use caution my friend..
