Default Water changes

Got my tank set up today and was wondering if I could run a half inch pipe from inside the tank to a gate valve that I could hook a hose to when I wanted to drain water and then use the same hose to pump new water back into the tank thus having a water change type of system. What is your thoughts? What does every body else do for their water changes? Thanks JIM

this is possible, if you have a strong enough pump to put the water back into the tank, I have a similar setup, except I can pump all my water back into the sump, I also have a pvc gate valve for the return water back into the tank.

For me the ole 10 gal bucket, I cure my water for a week so to speak, get it perfect, temp, ph etc..

Gravel cleaner hose thing, pump it out, pump it in, pretty much same thing your asking about, just no attachment or pumps all manual, then again i only have a 30g tank...

I pump the water back in slow at diff intervals..

If you keep the pipe filled with water it will work.

You could use an extra powerhead with a tube on the outlet to dump water into a bucket.
What are you running for filtration? Sump or HOB (hang on back)?

If you are running a sump you can drain off the sump inlet and add new water to the sump.
