Default Question about lighting

I am starting a 65 gallon salt tank, i have two sets of the atinic bulbs (4 in all). I am building a partial reef near the center of the tank and would like to know if these lights are enough to reach about 1/2 way down to a pile of mushroom rock and some corals that i want to stack on top of the rock i have already laid?

Need a LOT more info please. I'm guessing your 65 gal is 48" wide? How wide are the lights? Are they T5 HO, VHO, or compact fluorescent? What other lighting are you using? How many watts are each bulb rated for? How deep is your tank?

Well there are several types of fluorescent bulbs. There are standard T8 or T12, there are VHO (which are basically a high output standard), and there are T5 HO. You can also get compact fluorescent, which are a little bit different, not tube-type bulbs. If she bought the thing in a kit, they're most likely standard fluorescent or compact fluorescent. Wattage is a very important thing to know. The general rule for reefs is you want 4-6 total watts per gallon of water.

Also, you're going to want more than just actinics. You're going to want 10,000K day bulbs (at least as many as you have actinics).
