Default Newbie Questions

Hi I am considering getting into saltwater tanks and I have a couple of questions. First is what are the basic things needed for saltwater tanks? I am considering getting a snow flake eel and corals, what would I need in particular for them? I am getting a 55 gallon. What would be some good corals that could tolerate the needs of what the snow flake would need? What are some invertabrates,Anemonee(sp ?), or fish that wouldnt get eaten by the eel and live in the same tank? Sorry for all the questions I am trying to compose a list of everything i would want or need before i purchase even the stand.
thank you

sand salt rocks testing equipment light s filters and money. you need to deside what system you are going for berlin, plenium, wet dry, ther are a million posibilities i whould search around the other forums do lots of reading and thinking and go from there. pick a game plan and go from there. i personaly like the natural systems berlin and plenium with a refugium and a high end protien skimmer. deside on all this and hthen think of the fish good luck

I cant wait to get out of these devil african chiclids and get my salt water tank its just a money problem right now. But asking such questions tells me you are not stupid enough to just jump into this out of nowhere its good your doing research first and asking questions instead of just throwing a bunch of stuff in a tank and expecting the world from it i can tell you will have a well balanced succsessful tank GOOD LUCK!! Remember there are no stupid questions I will look for your posts and perhaps I can learn along with you.
I will lurk this forum for a while til i feel confident on a reef setup.
