Default Actinic lighting?

Hi everyone, i am fairly new to saltwater. I hav a 10gallon cycled nano, and i would like to add some corals. I was instructed by a marine guru on my other forum, that mushroom corals would be good for me, as they are easy to keep. I have one problem though. I have heard corals need/dont need actinic lighting. Can anyone help me? Thanks

Matt

What type of lighting do you have now? You want to have some actininc lighting since that wavelength is what helps the symbiotic algae grow.

You should have either 1 bulb daylight & 1 bulb actinic or use the 50/50 bulbs for a 10 gal.

You should either have 1 x 10,000K bulb and 1 x Actinic 03 bulb or a 50/50 bulb. 6500K is a bad wavelength for a marine tank because it promotes the wrong kinds of algae to grow.
