| New to the Hobby (Getting Started/Setting Up) Think you can upgrade to saltwater? Your probably very confused, but remember ask questions and you'll get your answers on here! |

 Actinic lighting? Hi everyone, i am fairly new to saltwater. I hav a 10gallon cycled nano, and i would like to add some corals. I was instructed by a marine guru on my other forum, that mushroom corals would be good for me, as they are easy to keep. I have one problem though. I have heard corals need/dont need actinic lighting. Can anyone help me? Thanks Matt  |

| Re: Actinic lighting? What type of lighting do you have now? You want to have some actininc lighting since that wavelength is what helps the symbiotic algae grow.

| Re: Actinic lighting? You should have either 1 bulb daylight & 1 bulb actinic or use the 50/50 bulbs for a 10 gal.

| Re: Actinic lighting? You should either have 1 x 10,000K bulb and 1 x Actinic 03 bulb or a 50/50 bulb. 6500K is a bad wavelength for a marine tank because it promotes the wrong kinds of algae to grow. |
