| I'd get rid of the crushed coral all together. It simply isn't used any longer. Since the CC has a larger particle size, you'll find that the sand will find its' way over time through it. Not only that, any & all detritus will make it's way into the CC similar to the way it does in a fresh water tank. If you have live rock, the rock should go in first so it's on a stable base & then back fill with the sand. This will keep any burrowing fish from toppling your aquascaping as they dig.
