Default Aquascaping my Tank

Good afternoon all.

Any suggestions as to ways of aquascaping? I have a 55 gallon tank with some live rock already in it ( about 15-20lbs ) and I am kinda stumpped about how exactly to go about this task. Any suggestions and comments are appreciated.

This is your opportunity to be creative. Are you planning to have corals in the tank or FOWLR? If you have corals, you will probably want to build your rock wall so that there are shelves on which to place your corals. Also, smaller fish need places to hide, so you may want to create nooks and crannies for them to hide. Arrange it so that you have water flowing through and behind the rocks? so as not to have any "dead space" that can cause problems with unwelcome bacteria buildup. It may require an extra PH to do this, but better to do it now before you get your life in there. If you have just cycled your tank with the live rock, you should strongly consider doing a partial water change at least.
good luck!

I don't like putting the rock against the back glass - many times some fish will just stay back there & that will be the last you see of them. Also if a big fish dies back there you have to tear it all apart to get at it. Put your rock in first & then the sand. If you have any burrowing fish, your aquascape won't come tumbling down.

I'm going to be in the same boat soon, temperature permitting me to get my stand finished. I've been thinking about this and, in my situation, I want to be able to see both sides of the tank, since it will be operating as my "divider" between my desk and the rest of the living room.

I plan to build something like this, as an example, obviously.

What I'm going to be looking for is something that has the hiding spots for the fish and can still seen through, so I can watch TV through the tank.

I got home a little while ago, and decided that I had to set up my new light for the tank. It is a Corallife Lunar Aqualight,it has the double strip configuration. It has two 65 watt true actinic 03 blue bulbs, and two 65 watt 10,000k daylight bulbs. It also has four 3/4 watt lunar blue glow led lamps. Until I set this light up, I really had no idea how beautiful my tank could actually appear, and also how empty it also is. Now that I have the light set up, I am wondering what type of corals and the like I can safely have in my tank? I have a couple of new books that I can reference, but I would also like to see what everyone here on the forums have to suggest? In case you haven't picked up on this yet....I'm really having a great evening...my new canister filter arrived today also!
