IMO, not a good sign. Any signs of distress - rapid breathing, blotches, etc.......

When you say "lay"...is he laying around like a doomed fish or is it at night when the lights are off and he is resting against a rock or something? My clowns do that and they are healthy, just mean.

What Becky said...my clowns before I got my BTA would at night sleep on the sand bed, they made a little "bed" out of the sand and just rested there, was quite cute! Everyone always wanted me to get the flashlight out so we could see them.

Glampka he looks fine no distress no rapid breathing or blotches it seems like he just takes a break every once and awhile. Rlcline76 hes not laying around like a doomed fish he kinda just slows down. Ryan it looks like he is making a bed and just stays in it for awhile, he is really close to the glass almost resting on it. Looking at him right now he is all around the tank and a great eater. I even went to the lfs and had the water tested and everything was on the money. Hey thanks guys for the help

i have two baby clowns that do that from time to time. they will be ok i think.on another note tho.. the meanest thing i ever did (on accident mind you) was i left the room light off and i come home LATE from being out drinking and when i turned on the light in the room they woke up and they were skimming around on the bottom of the sand bumping into things.. it was funny at the time, not so funny when i sobered up.

I can't add anything more about the clown, but I have known of several people who have had trouble keeping a Royal Gramma with a six line wrasse, especially in smaller tanks. I noticed at a LFS when they added a six line to a tank with a royal gramma, the gramma started chasing the wrasse around immediately. They had to move him to another tank. You may want to avoid this combination. Just an opinion based on what I've seen and heard.
