It's very possible. It could be stress induced or it could simply just be coincidence. I wouldn't be concerned unless you notice strange behavior in your coral banded shrimp.

Make sure you have sufficient iodine in your tank.

Iodine deficiency would prevent molting, not induce molting.

Yes that is correct.

My cleaner shrimp molts about every 6 weeks.

Agreed. It's important to maintain iodine levels especially if there are repetative moltings in short periods of time. Iodine does NOT necessarily induce molting, but its deficiency leads to poor shell (chitin) structure.

The problem with instructions from manufactures is very simply, they don't make money by you having heathly good looking fish, they make money by selling you the stuff, so they recommend you the maximum amount that they can so that you use the most possible. Just like fish food flakes, instructions: 'Feed as many flakes as your fish can eat in 5 secs. Feed 3-4 times daily.' If thats not overfeeding I don't know what is.

Again, great advice.

Don't dose for iodine. Salt water changes make up for this.

Don't bother dosing for iodine if you can't test for it. Also, a less expensive and more natural route would be water changes. This will maintain iodine at a very stable level.
