Default Fish stocking

Okay so I am looking at getting some more fish. I have a 29 gallon tank, shallow sand bed, plenty of rocks, plenty of flow. Looking for some reds and yellows. Needs to be coral safe.
I currently have a Firefish(regular) and a fiji blue devil damsel. give me some ideas please.

A marroon clown would make a nice addition. You can usually find them in a small size, around 1-1.5 inches, which would be perfect for a 29G.

I'd get a nice pair of captive raised True Perc Clownfish...

I think they'd be a great addition and they are pretty peaceful

Red Scooter Blennies are not suitable for a 29 Gal. tank unless they will accept frozen mysis shrimp. Red Scooter Blennies are more like dragonnets than blennies which means they'll eat copepods primarily and once he destroys your copepod population, which won't take long in a small tank, he'll starve.

A maroon clownfish is do-able. Flame Angels are iffy, they aren't considered reef-safe by most retailers. You could try adding a four-line or six-line wrasse. They're colorful and personable. A possum wrasse is possible as well. They're red and yellow. They can be cryptic, but they're still very amazing when they strut their stuff around a tank.

For yellow you could add a clown goby, a yellow watchman goby, a yellow assessor, bi-colored blenny (although they're more orange than yellow) or even a a tail-spot blenny. They're all passible fish and very friendly.

Also for red, you could go with a hawkfish. Most hawkfish suitable for a 29 gal. tank are red.

Royal Grammas are purple on front end and bright yellow on back end, a strikingly colorful fish that is hardy and a small size for the tank you have.

Royal Grammas are aggressive and territorial. From personal and word-of-mouth experience I would not suggest this fish.

According to my reasearch the maroon clownfish is aggressive...is he very aggressive, as most of his tank mates would be passive.

I had my maroon clown for a little over 2 weeks, before I lost him to New Tank Syndrome. However, during that time, he was not aggressive towards any other tank mates and he got along lovely with my False Ocellaris. They swam side by side almost all day long.

Sounds good. You might need to cut one fish out of the list, but over all you seem to be well within the limits of your tank.

updated list :

-- Fish --

1 Longfin Fairy Wrasse
1 Yellow Clown Goby
1 Maroon Clownfish
1 Red Hawkfish
1 Firefish
1 Blue Fiji Devil Damsel

-- Corals --

1 Purple Elegance
1 Green Moon
1 Hairy Mushroom
1 Green Starburst

That gives me 22 inches of fish, and not sure of the general rule of thumb with corals but that seems like a lite load on the corals.

DO NOT use 1in./gal. rule! That is such an uneducated and easily falsified rule. It's plausible for freshwater tanks (and even then I'm not 100% sure) but most certainly not for marine water tanks.

That is a huge misconceptions.

Stocking fish should be based on their possible maximum bio-load. The list you have now is good and near your tank's maximum bio-load already. Adding another will put you over the top. As for the yellow clown goby. In a 30 Gal. tank I feel he'll get lost because of his size.
