Default new mushrooms

Ok so i just bought a rock with mushrooms on it, when i was at the lfs they were wide open however when i brought them home they closed up. My question is how long will it take for them to reopen?

They are in shock froom the change in environment. It helps if you slowly acclimate your corals for future reference. Mushrooms are pretty hardy, I'd expect in 3-4 days they should open. Good luck and congrats to ya.

Also depends on how much light they are getting. Mushrooms will open up more with less light. If you have them high under intense light you might want to lower them in the tank.

I have MH lights with about 10watts per gallon. How low do I want to put the mushrooms? I have mine up in the top third of the tank right now. They open, but instead of being blue/purple they are a reddish brown when they open.
thanks
Kathy

I'd move them down to the lower third. I had mine up top (6.4 watts/gal PC) & they weren't opening much. Put them on the bottom of the tank & now they open up & have great color.

Yeah, they're all correct. Lots of times, if mushrooms don't like it where they are, they will fall off, and move down to a lower rock. Try to keep them out of a strong current as well.
