Default Acrylic, Glass, Or Polycarbonate??

Glass
Acrylic = 10x Stronger then Glass
Polycarbonate = 250x Stronger then Glass

Would Poly Work Well for building a tank?? Any Ideas, Recomendations, Downsides to either material?

Im using Garf's tank Builder and its telling me 1/2inch Acrylic, But if Poly would work i would rather use it for strength, and weight.

I guess the other question is could i get away with using 3/8s Poly?

Polycarbonate is nice, however, it is not as clear as glass or acrylic.

Also, I think you'd need to have it cast, which would be pricey. Also, it has the same negatives as acrylic. It scratches easier than glass.

i would go with acrylic if you want strenght and durability. although if you dont mind the weight just get a glass tank and save yourself a lot of money. I like acrylic but it has a lot of downsides. you must make sure that you get cell cast material so it doesnt craze and yellow with age!! i dont know much about poly but it is very hard to work with and the chemical bond is hard to attain!! it actually doesnt scrath that easily and depending on the thickness can be just as clear as glass. poly is mainly used on aircraft. i dont think you want to spend 20,000 on a 125 gallon aquarium!!! good luck with your decision!

Why do you need that strong of a tank? Are you going to be tap dancing on the inside?

I never knew polycarbonate was so expensive. I could've swore my water bottle was only $9.20 at WalMart and is polycarbonate.
