Default Had to do a complete clean..

I had to break down the whole tank and really clean everything. I had a lot of algae and my nitarte was getting high from only changing about 5% of my water every 2 weeks or so. (I have only had a tank 6 months) Anyways, in the process my cleaning the tank I only saved about 50% of the water. Is this going to mess up my cycle and kill my fish if I put them back in with only 50% of the orginal water?!

IMO, there are many products out there made by good companies that could've taken care of the nitrate/algae...sorry you had to take your whole tank down. I doubt that it will kill your fish just make sure the new water you mix up is exactly the same as the water you have remaining

Algae comes from bad nutrients in the water...what kind are you using?

Basic maintenance, no offense, can keep your tank looking new for decades.
