so, why is there pink and purple growing all over my glass, but not my rock? is it because i have 3 urchins in my 55?

Maybe its because its growing on reflective glass and its easier to see,or its that New Jersey live rock.........I warned you lol.

hey, the rock isnt form NJ! its from the caribean. im not sure, i have a fishy feeling that its the urchins. maybe my clacium levels. i have not checked them for a while.

maybe most of your flow is directed towards the glass. try to direct towards some of the rocks and see what happens, you need good current throught the rocks too

ahhhh....you are so correct...all my flow is towards the glass! but flow also does get to my rocks, just not as well. well, im making a spray bar and im getting new pumps, so ill fix that when all the stuff comes in!

For the first 6 months or so dont have the currents pointing at the glass. Have it all blowing across the rock face. I even go so far as to put a powerhead right on top of a really nice coralline covered piece and aim it at the rock face. It will spread like wildfire as long as you keep your calcium at 400 KH at 7-8 and magnesium at 1300. In 6 months you can point the currents anyway you want it because the corals will outcompete the coraaline for calcium anyway.

hmmm...alright thanks. I havnt tested for anything ofr a while cuz i ran out of testers, but im ordering some new ones this week. so ill test everything and then ill make it to the appropriate level and hope for the best.

oh i havent even got any coraline alage so far except on fake corals and the tank is 3 months old.

Blind,since caraline is light sensative,could it be you dont have enough light?How much do you have?

Well I might be wrong but I would say that.72 watts per gallon is not quite enough to grow anything. But on the up side you wont have heat issues lol.
