Default I'm new and need help

So recently I've decided that I would like to move from a freshwater tank to a saltwater tank. I haven't had a freshwater tank in like 3 years but want to give a saltwater tank a go. I'm not sure what I should do and it all seems a little scarey from what I've read so far. I've heard that I need to do a lot of research before I start and was wondering if anyone could tell me some good books to read or give me any good advice?

Welcome to RB, Leah!!!
Read the guides at the bottom of the forum page. Also read through the various threads that have been posted. 2 important things to remember:
1. Sit down & thouroughly plan out what type of tank you want to keep - FOWLR or reef. Then go from there, determining the type of fish you want, corals, etc. Once you do that, you'll pretty much know what you'll need equipment wise.
2. Have PATIENCE! Don't expect to have a full blown reef or fish tank overnight. Take your time & you should be successful.
Good luck!!

It is full of information on just about everything.

The book is titled
"Complete Encyclopedia of the Saltwater Aquarium (Hardcover)"

Amazon.com: Complete Encyclopedia of the Saltwater Aquarium: Books: Nick Dakin,Julian Sprung

Welcome Okie! Hey I used to live there. Here is a good site with a lot of info and links that may be of help:
Saltwater Aquariums 101
Thiel Book - Table of Contents
I would suggest you begin with a budget. You can probably count on spending $30 per gallon to get the tank up, running, and cycled. After that, the sky is the limit. Take your time, do your research, ask questions, don't believe anything the LFS tells you (local fish store).

Welcome Leah, one thing to keep in mind...is that the larger the aqaurium (water volume) the more stable the environment.
