Its normal for pencil urchins to remain in one place. I have three of them and
they only move around at night time. During the day they pretty much stay in place.

You need to let them sit for 30 min, open the bag and let 1/2 a cup of water in, wait 10 more min and do the same then just add the urchin and no water from the bag.

You know you can dump the water and leave the urchin in the bag for a second then toss it in...harmless. It's just usually the LFS's water has alot of crap in it you don't want getting into your tank.

A lot of lfs use copper with there livestock although when they have sea urchind they keep them in there reef tank display. Next time drip aclimade and throw the old water out. They way I do it is if its a price item I drip is not I float. Just put the whole bag in your tank untile water temps have adjusted in tanke it out of the lfs bag and put into your tank. Good luck and once again we want pictures

Tonz of fun if the SG's are different then they get shocked upon getting in the water. You need to add 1/2 a cup twice in 10 min intervals after floating for 30 minutes. And i'm sure the only copper solutions they use are in fish only tanks if even because copper can damage the fish's reproductive organs and is deadly to reefs.

Gorgeous pics!
It isn't just chemicals you have to worry about, but parasite loads as well. My LFS has so many QTs and does not copper treat the other tanks, to my knowledge. But that doesn't mean that I toss his water in my tank. If is isn't your water from your tanks, you don't know what is floating in there!

Do you think before you talk? You said what I have been saying. I also said it might be a problem if the urchin was in a tank other then the reef tank at the lfs. ie. fish only. thus there might be copper solutions in the water. You are arguing with me but you have the same viewpoint. Everyone has a different opinion on acclimating. I perfer drip you think its ok to add a full cup of new water every ten mintues. It seems like you are following me around and posting were I post. You must be a only child.

I respond based off of what is said...I don't try and argue with anyone.

I was just suggesting adding half a cup because it's easier than drip acclimating and less time confusing. And no i'm not an only child.
