Default Advice on used tanks

I have had freshwater fish most of my life, but I really want a coral reef tank. What's the best way to go about finding good used equipment? I am on a tight budget I just had a baby and will be off work for at least a year-less money-but lots of time and not afraid of hard work. Any advice would be greatly appriciated!

The thing you need to be aware of with a used tank is whether or not copper containing medications were ever used in it. Copper is forever & bad for corals, etc. Best places to check for used tanks are: ebay, craigslist, local papers, various forums (usually have a classified section). Many times you can get a sweet deal if you're just patient & know prices.

Thanks! Like I said I will have a lot of time on my hands this year. I keep a look out. Any thoughts on acrylic vs glass?

I like glass - acrylic tends to scratch easier. Depends on size & if you're going closed loop or not. Acrylic definitely easier to drill.
