HI, How long has he been in the tank? Is the lion in your 40G? I would think it sounds like ick?? Maybe hes too big for the tank and stressed out? Keep us informed?

How's your triggerfish?
Is the lionfish still eating and swimming?
Sounds like ich. Do you have anywhere to quarantine and treat?

A QT from my understanding is a tank that is setup like a regular tank minus the LR but i assume Live Rock wont hurt.. the QT's Ive seen have a piece of PVC in the tank ( No LR) so the fish or critters can hide in.. preferably the same water params as your tank.

For my freshies i used an ich treatment this way (this probably doesn't apply to salt at all) but I treated the tank with a capful and pulled the filter, 24 hours later i did a 45% water change then added more ich treatment, then 24 hours later a 50% water change, for 3 days, then changed out another 60% and replaced the filter and slowed the feedings.. And it worked for me.. But again that was freshwater I assume that Salt is going to be a different animal in itself.

the trigger is hanging out at the top of the tank so i am thinking he may have the same thing going on cause he usually hides in the rocks and only comes out on occasion. Gonna go to the LFS when they open in an hour and see what they have for a QT the lion ate the day before yesterday so i was gonna try to feed him today.

Since you have sick fish and you are in a rush, you may use the water from your tank for whatever you use for QT. I don't mess with LR because copper will kill whatever makes it live. I would suggest a poerhead for flow, pvc pipe if your fish are still small enough to hide out in when they feel vulnerable...any cheap filtration system and a heater! I have read that lionfish can handle copper treatment, but I would doublecheck.

Can you post a picture? So we can make sure it is ich and how bad it is. Some times with stress induced ich will go away on it's own.

About a year ago I had several issues with this and have come full circle and have been ich free for a long time. What are the water conditions (that can cause stress that causes ich)? What else is in your tank? Is it fish only, or do you have creatures like hermit crabs ect? The only ways I have found success is 1. Fresh Water dip and 2. Hyposalinity (reducing the salt in the water). Some people may disagree w/me...however in my experience it has proven to be long term succesful.

if you decide to do hyposalinity, make sure you bgring the SG down to 1.012, otherwise it wont do anyhting. you may read that 1.017 is sufficient, but its not.

I asked one of my guys at our LFSlastnight about your sick Lion, he said it could be a multitude of things, Shock, over feeding, tank params, crowding, but it sounds like none of these are your issue. He also said if you have a QT then to use it.

just thought i would give you all an update. the lion is doing ok I hooked up a seaclone skimmer and moved him in to a 10 gal QT this am. he still has a few white dots on him but he is doing better. Now my longspine urchin seems to be loosing all of his longest spines im thinking its cause of the medication that i was putting in there so i did a 20 percent water change hopefully this takes care of it. the trigger, hermit crab and the snowflake eel appears to be ok thanks for alll the help I tell everyone i know this is the place for answers.

HI guys, Will Ich Kick work If i have a choc chip star and some hermits? Live sand and no lr in my tank at work.

It only has a few small damsels for color for the kids in the office. I noticed ich on one of them yesterday. I took him out and dipped him in distilled water ONLY because after a trip to the lfs they didnt seem to have anything I could use with inverts and a star fish and noone seemed to have ANY knowledge. I cant remember if Melafix is safe for inverts??

Lemme know what ya think please. Also the tank is a self contained 10G cube NOT a nano with compacts and has been set up over a year.

Thanks a bunch!

eh...the lemon juice should be fine, either that or you can go to Pet Supplies, Dog Supplies, Cat Supplies, Pet Meds & Pet Products: Drs. Foster & Smith Pet Supplies and they sell some concoction with the suringe for aptasia.
