Default cycling question

I put a raw shrimp in the tank to help cycle, how long do I leave it in?

I think its a day or two. Did you use two shrimp? And you could always just check your level see what your Am is at.

They say use one piece per 30 gallons. It all depends on how much he used I think. If he just used 2 pieces it should be good to go in 2 days

I put in a second jumbo shrimp, and 20 hours later there is still no amonia. Guess it'll take a few days.

give it a few days. I wouldn't even bother testing for a week or so. Patience... Let nature take it's course. Go ahead and test after a week and I'm sure you'll see positive numbers on all readings. Then wait another week and see what it looks like. Then another week after that. Once it zeros out, go ahead and wait another week and make sure things stayed steady and if they have, you can start shopping for life. I know we're all in a hurry to end the cycle and get started but it's nothing but beneficial the longer you wait.
