THE REEF READY TANK IS THE WAY TO GO! With the reef ready you do not have to worry about the the vacuum breaking on the overflow, you can have your sump in the stand underneth the tank and hide everything in it (heaters, protein skimmer, etc..) You can have a fuge hiding under there as well. For $90 you can't beat it. I would definitely tank advantage of that over, you could turn you current tank into a wonderful large QT tank.

Pre drilled is more efficiant and so much cleaner. You get to hide all the crap. Put your heater, skimmer, and filter down in the sump...

My 180G tank isn't predrilled. I've heard it's a bad idea to drill them after-the-fact. Would you guys concur? I want to hide all the stuff. If money is no object, should I just dump the 180G tank and get one that is predrilled? Do you guys buy stuff like that over the net or at a LFS? Steve

If you already have the 180 I would drill it on the upright glass it is usually not tempered but the bottom is usually always tempered. It can and has been done many times before. I would do that before buying a RR 180 and use the money on other things. A reef is never finished, there is always something else you would like to put in or on your system. so you will always be spending money on it. besides whats the worst thing that can happen yo drill it and break it and you go but the RR tank.

| If you are going to go with a non drilled tank then life reef is the overflow to get. I have used them before with no problems EVER of losing vacuum. CPR overflows....ummm...let me put this as gently as possible...they uh......suck very large [insert animal genitalia here].

Oh my mistake, I assumed that the water would be taken out of the tank prior to drilling. Never try to drill a tank that has any amount of water in it. Not only do you not want your fish injesting glass dust but the water weighs about 8 lbs per gallon so it creates stress on the glass. I never thought for a minute that anyone would try and drill a full or even semi full tank.
