Default yellow tang

i started a 65 gallon salt tank, but my first fish after the water was ok was a yellow tang. now it attacks other fish(corral beauty) that i put in the tank. is there any fish that the tang will not attack that i can put in the tank. i have a 65 gallon tank now with a sharp nose puffer and 2 damsels. thanks bill beck[/i]

The tang no doubt set up its' territory being 1st in. A trick that you can do to mess with their minds is to rearrange your aquascape which makes the fish think it's in new surroundings. That usually will take care of things.

From what I understand, yellow tangs should be the last fish to go in as they are the most territorial of all the tangs. Try glampka's suggestion at the time you add new fish.

Question regarding all this,

Soon enough I will have my 120g running, would it be best to migrate my vlamingi tang with 2 new other tangs first day? I planned on a yellow tang and another type of tang, just wondering if its best to get them all in at once.

last thing i want is a scrap or a power struggle in my tank, my LFS has a 140g with 5 tangs, I figured they all were peaceful...

I had the same problem in a FO tank with a flame angel and a coral beauty, removed both and put in QT tank, rearanged main tank, left them in QT for a couple of days, then put them back into main tank, no problems after that.

i would avoid having more then one tang per tank unless you have like 600 gallons or more. your going to get fighting no matter what you do

I think it depends on the tang. If its the same species then either have 1 tang or 4+. 2-3 they will fight foe sure. It depends on the species of Tang though

I need more then 1 tang, I absolutely love these fish, I'm starting to think 120g isnt big enough...

I currently have a Vlamingi, I was thinking 2 more one being a yellow..Guess I will see how it goes, maybe I will settle for angels....
