Default Little things in Tank

Its 2am and Ive just finished looking in my tank with a flashlight. I have a ton of bugs in there. There are some Id say eigth inch long and swim over everything including all over the sand. I have some that are up to 1/2" long and appear translucent and when you shine your flashlight in there their eyes glow. These look like shrimp the way they swim around. There are bugs in every nook and cranny! Im going to say hundreds if not thousands. And of course the pods. Good population of them as well. I have nothing in my tank eating these things. Do I need to get something?

If your tank is established (it sounds like it), you could probably put in a mandarinfish. Their diet consists of what you have floating around. Most of us have to wait at least 6 months to get one of those because of their very particular eating habits.

Thats what I was going to suggest if he had room on his bioload but I wouldnt recomened him going in there for 6-12 months. They are hard fish and will LOOK ok for 6 months then they next day will be dead.

Out of curiosity, what fish do you have in your tank, Jim?

No one has actually said this, but the things are "pods". Copepods, amiopods, tigger pods, etc. Little Detrivores that eat crap. They're good for your tank and good for fish to eat.

They are the primary food source for fish like mandarinfish. Other fish eat them also. They're like candy for them, and can supplement normal feeding. It's nice knowing that while you're away, the pods supplement feeding.
