a sump is basically a tank beneath your tank.

it is used to keep the heater, skimmer, fuge out of view.

It also increases the amount of water volume. the more water, the more time it takes for something to go bad.

you dont NEED a sump, but it is highly suggested.

you can make your own sump with anything form an old tank laying around in the garage to a plastic container form walmart.

i used two 10 gallon tanks and glued them together. here is the link to that thread.
http://www.reefbuilders.com/forums/d...sump-fuge.html

i think in that thread a lot of your questions will be answered.

if not just feel free to IM or PM me or anyone else.
