 what is this stuff? Hey... So theres this black almost blue stuff growing underness the sand? it looks kinda nasty, do u have any idea what that might be? also there are little white circles things that are growing on the sides of the tank... looking at it they look like plants but if u look harder they almost look like eggs? | Re: what is this stuff? w/o pics, its tough to be accurate, but it sounds like hydrogen sulfide deposits in the substrate. you'll want to take steps to remove it, as it can fairly toxic. *edit: if it is present against the front panel of the tank, it could be some sort of algae, maybe cyano. if you are digging it up in areas where there is little light penetration, it is probably H2S.
