Default Currents in new tank setup?

I'm new to the saltwater community and am trying to start a reef/fish tank and its been running for around a month now...I've added just a few fish since the tank is still cycling and don't think that my currents are sufficient for a good reef tank...My current setup is a 55 gallon tank and here are the following things I've gotten so far...
+ Fluval 404 Canister Filter (Only thing producing current, 300+ GPH)
+ Coralife Needlewheel 220 Skimmer
+ Metal Halide / Power Compact Lighting / LEDs for moon light
- 2 250 watt HQIs
- 4 65 Watt PCs (Actinic Blue)
- Blue LEDs for night lighting
+ 50 Lbs of Live Sand
+ 50+ Lbs of live rock (Looking to add another 50 Lbs soon)

On top of what wavemakers you think I should add what type of supplements should I be adding the tank on a weekly basis...right now I am adding a couple capfuls of calcium to the tank twice a week...I'm sure I'll have a great response and hopefully here soon I'll have some pics to post of my reef setup in progress...

if you want waves in the tank, i think the most user-friendly is a microprocessor with a few powerheads. there are several different brands like red sea, aqua-medic et al., and they all work essentially the same way...by turning pumps on and off on a programmed cycle. if you go this route, it doesn't matter what type of MP you use, but i would definitely only use maxi-jet powerheads.

there are also methods like SCWD that switch flow back and forth from 1 line being t-d into 2 outputs. works fairly well.

also, if you do put powerheads into your tank (or any electrical for that matter) make sure you put a grounding probe in there somewhere. it is much better for the corals if they don't have stray electrical currents, and i think there is a correlation between stray elec currents and head-lateral line erosion in fish.

Thanks for the reply but if anyone has any criticism about my setup I don't mind...I'd rather find it out now rather than later when my reef is being established...
