I have a 75 gal tank with 260 watts from my pc. Plus lunar LED fixture About 85 lbs of live rock. Have had the tank fish only with live rock for five years. Now i was trying to convert to reef tank. Filters are Berlin protein skimmer ecosystem refugium, magnum 350, home made top off system with Kent RO Kalk water I would show pics put don't know how to resize them so they fit in attachments

to resize photos do a search on google for resizing. second i dont think there is anything you can to to prevent it. I know with the water flow that will spread it around the rank. dont really know how to help ya on that one!

Good luck

Why do you want to stop your coralline algae growth? Just curious...

Well if you want to get it to spread you should take a tooth brush and scrub all the spot's that you have it growing and get it stirred up. also check your calcium levels and add if nessesary. allot of people like purple up and they say it works good.

Make sure you have good water movement and it will spread. It may take some time, but eventually it will cover everything.

Do you use the Magnum 350 full time? Is it to polish the water or to chemically filter the water? If you want coralline algae to grow make sure your phosphate is low (should read 0 on most kits) and your alkalinity is natural sea water lever or a bit higher. It will probably start growing in the shade and slowly acclimate itself to the brighter spots in your tank.

I use the magnum mainly for the purpose of the carbon. Is that bad? Should I not be running that? Can I fill the magnum with phosban or do I need to run a phosphate reactor. Is that why I'm having problems with hair algae and red slim algae?
