can't get rid of these annoying pest. I have 75 gal trying to convert to a reef tank and in the last year these things have over taken my tank . don't know what to do. I have been through 3 bottles of Joe's juice and all i do is manage the problem. I don't how safe all this chemical is for the tank. Tank has 85 lbs of live rock, cleaning crew, four clown fish(percula), coral beauty, blue tang, diamond golby, bi color pseudo. Need ideas please

Inject the anemones with kalk solution. This should get rid of them

in my experience a syringe with boiling water and a whole lot of lemon juice in the water. suck that water in the needle and run over to your tank and inject the anemone in the base and unload. should take care if it no prob.

Good luck!

Yes, I would try the boiling water before anything else. Other methods can screw with your water parameters.

Make it so that it can barely get sucked up in your syringe. Just take a a tablespoon of kalk and add water to it. My local fish store also uses super glue gel over the top of the aiptasia. Just cover it in the super glue gel and let the gel sit there for a week or too. It will burn the aiptasia to death as the gel cures in the water and it covers the site preventing any remaing pieces from forming a new anemone.

Happy hunting!

I had 1, thank got it didn't multiply. Anyway, my choc. chip star ate it, he just went over the top of it and......Poof, it was gone later that day. I dont know if that is good or not, especially considering that I wanted to put anemones in my tank, guess when I get my other tank up and running I will have to keep him in my smaller tank.

I used hot water to get rid of one. It was on a small rock that was easy to take out of the tank. I blasted it with hot water from a syringe right on the spot where the aiptasia was. I put the rock back in and it hasn't come back on that rock.

I found a couple more a week or two ago. I bought a peppermint shrimp and they were both gone the next morning.

My personal favorite is the bergia "nudibranch". It is what the commercial boys use.Since there are about 100 different ones available you have to be careful you get the right one. There are some that eat algea and some that eat aptasia and some that dine exclusivly on coral. Some reef clubs even have loaners that they pass around among themselves. The down side is when the aptasia is gone they will starve to death because thats all they eat.
