Default Tom Pro Series PS3 Filter/Skimmer with Auto Fill System

I'm new on this forum - had a saltwater eel, trigger, and grouper in a 55 twenty years ago when all I knew was an underground filter and frequent water changes. Last year, I bought a 55 gallon tank and ran umbuna cichlids for 10 months. My sons keep asking for nemo so I'm considering salt....today I started thinking about filtration and my LFS recommended this Tom PS3 to get me started - in order to avoiding drilling, and building a refegium, etc. I'm wondering if anyone on here uses this product and what your results have been with it. I'm willing to spend $300 - also considering having my tank drilled for a refegium. Which is better? Typically, I want to do things right, will this get me started? Thanks.

If I remember correctly the ps3 is a drip filter full of bio balls or that shredded stuff. These are generally considered a no no as they collect massive amounts of nitrates and when you move them it all goes in the tank. They are difficult to clean, expensive and inneficient. One of the major reasons to have a sump is to have a refugium where algea is grown to primarily for the export of waste and for fish food.the pro's for the ps3,its convenient.the pro's for a sump, they work. Most lfs will drill and plumb a tank for 75$'s or so.
