Default Setting up sump/refugium

I'll be setting up my 20L sump on Thursday. I'm putting sand and LR rubble in the refugium. Is cheato the best macro algae for nitrate and phosphate removal? What else should go in there? Snails, crabs, etc? I have a coralife mini aqualight with a 9w 10k and a 9w actinic. Is this a good enough light? Do I leave the light on 24 - 7 or only when the tank lights are off?

Default Re: Setting up sump/refugium

there are many plants you can add to the fuge, but cheato is probably the most common.

I added some sea lettuce fomr Sea Life Inc. and it came LOADED with pods and little shrimp.

I keep the light on 24/7, but you can also have it on a reverse schedule than your main tank lights.

Try to make a DSB in the fuge.
make sure you add some sand sifting critters like crabs and snails and some stars.

im not sure if the light will be sufficient, I have 2 75w grow lights over my fuge(20l as well)

i get each light at walmart for 10$
