Default Aquatic spidey webs?

My 24g nano has come down with what looks like cob/spider webs in the tank. Does anyone have any idea what can cause this? I suspect it's due to the presence of Caulerpa sertularioides (this took some major research to identify this plant) in the tank. This tank has been running for well over a year or two in someone elses care, in mine for around 2 months; I've tried to remove the Caulerpa, but it has returned.

Default Re: Aquatic spidey webs?

In case anyone else has had this problem here's a couple of links to some information on what I've found:

Vermetid Snails... Pest!
Snails That Worm Their Way Into Tanks by Ronald L. Shimek, Ph.D. - Reefkeeping.com

These little Vermetid Snail tubes are all over the live rock in the tank. My blue leg hermits don't seem to bother with them; I'll have to try a different kind.
My tank is too small for the Copper Banded Butterfly option. If anyone has any other ideas please chime in.
