Default New Refugim Setup

I'm wanting to set up a refuge/sump setup and am wanting to build it with the dimensions of 23X20X20. I know the dimensions are weird but it is where I can put it and that is basically it. I want to definately put the protein skimmer in which is a corallife SS skimmer 220. I'm getting massive amounts of microbubbles in my aquarium and I HATE IT. Next I want to have a live rock zone with live sand and then a return zone. One main thing I want to add is various bubbletraps so those stupid microbubbles wont be in my display tank. If anyone has any suggestions on what I should be putting instead or adding on I'm open for suggestions.

Also what size pump would be efficient for my 55 gallon tank...I also want to make sure the sump does not flood and everything I read still leaves me confused on how to prevent this...One last thing, does 1/4" acrylic sound okay for this project?

You need to figure out the head height (distance from pump to tank) & how many 90 degree elbows you will have. Each elbow adds 1 ft of head height. IMO, a Mag 9.5 would suffice.
1/4" acrylic would be fine. Check out this site for more info on sumps/refugiums: Melevsreef.com | Acrylic Sumps & Refugiums

I've been reading a lot on Melevsreef and he does great work. I originally was going to just buy some tanks but after looking at the acrylic I fell in love. As far as my setup is right now I think that 3 feet is all the height...
