Default Upgrading to 75 gallon Tank

I have a 55 gal FOWLR tank with a few blue legs crabs and a sand sifterstar goin now and use CC as a substrate. I'm moving to a new house and was thinking about upgrading to 75 while im goin to the trouble. I have heard that LS or sand in general is a better substrate but my main reason for getting CC in the first place was a limited budget. Is sand really the best way to go and if so would i need LS since i already have established LR. Has anyone heard of buying like cheaper sand for like kids play pits or ne thing? is that a horrible Idea or any one know of a cheaper alternative? Also if any one has any good ideas for transporting my fish and rock about 15 mins by car to a new place i would welcome any advice or ideas . Thanks For the Advice!

Kids' playsand is a definite no-no. It usually contains silicates which you don't want in your tank. CC has a large particle size which allows detritus & all sorts of other garbage pass through it. Think back to a freshwater tank with a ug filter - remember how crudded up the gravel got & you had to vacuum it? Same thing happens with CC. CC can also abrade the underside of certain sand sifting live stock.
Do yourself a favor & go with sand. It doesn't all need to be LS - you can get marine sand & add some LS to it to cut costs.
