I'm new to this also, but Live rock goes through a die-off phase which will cause your Ammonia to spike! Hope you don't have any fish in there!

That is if your Live Rock wasn't cured already.

yea, it is a part of the cycling process... Ammonia will turn into Nitrite and then to Nitrate... Then do a 20-40% water change.... That is what I did.

Default I cycled with cured rock

I cycled with cured rock, so I didn't see the ammonia spike, but it is perfectly normal. Don't freak out when the whole tank blooms a lovely brown color either. Diatoms, they are all part of it.

Yeah just let the tank run (without changing the water) untill the amonia and nitrite are gone.. they will be converted over time as you build a small bioload.

Did you use anything like live sand to also help kickoff the cycle?

Remember this is not a one time thing .. anytime you add a fish or rock or anything like that there will be another mini cycle ..

Just remember, only bad things happen quickly in this hobby ..
