Default RO/DI Filtration System

Ok my local fish store can get me a RO/DI system for $229.00. The only problem is I live in a rental home and I don't want to spend that much money if I can't hook it up properly. The guys at the store say that its best to run a y converter from my laundry hookups to the system but my washer and dryer are the stackable kind and fit in a closed tight cubby in the hallway with no where to put this unit so that is out of the question.

Is anyone experienced in having the unit installed under a sink? If so is it hard to do? Does it take up space? Is it a pain in the rear? I want to know what I'm getting myself into before I get started.

I have a RO-DI hooked up under my sink .. there is a faucet hookup which is as simple as screwing in the adapter ..

This is the one I have http://www.purelyh2o.com/product.php...cat=249&page=1

When I purchased it there is an option for the adapter type, I just got the faucet adapter .. I screw it in when I need it then unhook it and store it when im done.

so you can just hook that up to your kitchen faucet on top of the sink and then unhook it when you are done and store it whereever? If so I'm getting that one. I was under the impression that I would have to do a ton of plumbing which I don't want to do living in a rental and all. If it is that easy I'm gonna go that route instead of buying straight from the lps. thanks

Take a look on eBay... You'll get alot more for less when it comes to RO/DI units... As far as hooking it up to a sink, any of them can be hooked up that way with the right fittings from Home Depot or Lowes...

the units on ebay look like cheap no-name brand units. Which ones are worth getting? And the hoses on the units look tiny... Exactly how long does it take for these ro/di things to make enough water for a 75 gal tank?

The ones on eBay are almost identical to the ones you'll find in an LFS unless it's a Kent, but as far as the hoses, they all use the same type, it's like the hose on a refrigerator ice maker... I use an ebay model from Devon Web, works fine... My TDS is 0-1 ppm... A 75 Gal/day unit would take 24hrs to produce that much, however, you will not get that much out of it... It's all relative to the pressure you put into the unit as well as the temp of the water... I have mine hooked up to a faucet so I can control the temp, they are most efficient at about 70 degrees F, mine will produce 50% more water at 0 TDS when it runs at the right temp...

Default Not Bad...

I've Got An R/o System In My House... It Was An Add-on When We Bought It, And With My Tanks, I Knew It Would Come In Handy... Mine Puts Out About 95 Gallons A Day At About 75 Degrees... It Sucks To Wait Sometimes But On Small Water Changes Or Simply Adding Water It Is A Huge Help... To Fill The Tank Initially, I Suggest Getting Some Five Gallon Ozarka Bottles Or Something And Hiking Up To The Nearest Water Depot/mill... Usually Find Them At Wal-mart... It Has Like 7 Different Steps Of Filtration And Comes Out Crystal Clear.... Mine Looks Like It Simply Runs Thru The Splitter Under The Sink And Looks Semi-easy To Install.... i can get details if u like, one of my brothers is an installer for lowes...
