| is the tank hit bye direct sunlight at any time during the day becuz if does that will cuase the algae also if ur lights r to close but what i think u r saying is the water is looking green as well correct |
| ||||
| Yeah really green when lights are off and yellowish green when lights are on, I have 2 96watt bulbs and moon lights that you can't even see anymore. |
| ||||
| so does the sunlight hit the tank at all during the day if it does u r going to have to block that light or move the tank if it dont try raiseing the lights up 4 to 6 inchs |

| If I had to guess the cause of this problem my first thoughts go to tap water,are you useing ro/di water?Did you cycle the new rock before you put it in the tank?Useing additives in a tank generally cause more problems than they cure I recomend you stop useing them.They are coverups that fix nothing. |
| ||||
| I do use tap water and never cycled the live rock before putting it in. Do you think I should just start all over with distalled water? |
| ||||
| I have a couple of damsels, flower anenomes, coral, snails and crabs. My tangs, sweet lips, clams and corals are in my neighbors tank till it clears. |
| ||||
| dont start over just start useing RO water and block the sunlight from the tank and get a cleaner crew some turbo snails and some crabs dont use chems to fix go natuaral |
| ||||
| RO water, is that the same as distilled water? Also should I do a complete water change w/dis. water? I started using a blanket to cover it today. Thanks |
| ||||
| You could do several small changes over several days.with either kind of water.And get a cleaning crew including snails and hermit crabs.The sooner the better. |
| ||||
| What are you testing for and what are the results? |
| ||||
| a UV sterilizer is a light that has gamma/UV light. water passes through the contraption then the water gets hit by the light, and the light is powerful enough to kill everyhting and anything that passes throguh it. the plus is that is will most likely get rid of you green water problem, the bad thing is, is that it will also kill all the beneficial bacteria that pass's through it. I am selling an 18w. 18w is good for up to 200g tanks.
