Default Tests

Temp: 79 degree F
PH: 7.8
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0
Alkalinity: 7 meq/L
Calcium: 310 ppm
Phosphate: 0

All I have is live rock and live sand. What is wrong with my test if anything? Just want to know if I am doing these things right?

Thanks

Ph is a little low. Calcium would be ideal a lottle higher and alkalinity seems off imo SG is low unless youre QTing fish under hyper salinity. Should be 1.025

I top off my evaporated water with mixed salt water. You have to be careful. Raise it nice and slow.

Since you have just rock & sand it would be ok to add the salt to the tank water. Once you have fish in there, you would make a solution with the specific gravity higher than what you needed.

Tonz - don't use saltwater to top off with since the salt doesn't evaporate. Use just RO/DI water.

he was saying that as a way to raise SG, not as a 'normal' practice.

Thank you swingin. Yes I generally top off with ro/di water. Id I need to raise my SG i make a concentrated solution or add salt water to my top off making the SG water of my tank more concentrated. Doug IMO I would not add salt to the tank, you dont want to create a bad habit. It is ok now like glampka said but you dont want to do that later when you have corals or fish.
