| I am moving this weekend back to college and I am nervous about the move... it is 200 miles and I am going to be a nervous wreck the whole way! I am just going to take out all of my water except a few inches to keep the sand wet in the bottom of my 30 gallon tank and I am going to put all of the drained water from that and my sump/fuge into a few rubbermaid bins. I am going to put my invertebrates in one of the bins and then my clowfish in a bag (that way they do not pollute the good water). I also am not feeding my clownfish 2 starting tomorrow until I get to my new set up because of fowling the water while moving. I also am putting my 40 pounds of LR in a rubbermaid bin. Well wish me luck! Good luck to you too! |

| wow sounds like your gonna need it more then me...lol...yea i wasnt sure what to do about it...i mean if you put water in rubbermaid containers thats gonna be very heavy...i have no clue...i guess maybe i should have waited to setup the saltwater tank until after we moved. but im not a patient person...when i get something i want to setup it up right away..i dont like waiting...well good luck to ya!!! |

| ya sounds like some good ideas I would for sure use some new 5 gal plastic buckets with lids and spouts and drive fast lol and probably get ready for some changes in parameters when you add your water cause it mixes stuff up in the sand bed maybe even have some new water mixed up just in case. I say that cause i just changed everything from my 30 gal to a 50 gal and had some trouble with ammonia. but did a water change and its fine now. |

| If you hit up the fast food chains for there empty 5 gallon pickle buckets, little lighter, SAFE, and free

| Check around for a place that sells plastic pails & drums - you can get 15 gallon drums. They are quite heavy however when filled. You want to get as much water out of the tank as possible. Be sure the water level is below the sand. When moving the tank, try not to disturb the sand. If you disturb it too much you could release toxic chemicals into the water.

| Moving is not all that hard> its about equipment> buckets/pails/bags etc..and help is always welcome> Corals/fish/invert if moved correctly can live just fine for hours and hours in buckets, bags etc.. If you ask me its all about having somewhere to set the tank up right away.. I helped move a 180g tank from philly to a jersey beach house> took a uhaul and about 10 hours> We used 80g original water and mixed 100g at the house, distilled. We let the tank cycle the new water for first night> next morning moved over 25 fish and tons of coral back in.. Coral took a week to get fully back to form but fish were fine, and of course checking out there new rockwork.... Bottom line> if everything is healthy going into it, shouldent be a issue... |
