Help please

My tank is almost done cycling, and I know that a quarantine tank is going to be needed before I add fish. Would a 10gal. be OK? Also, how do I set one up? Thanks, Deb

The quickest way to set up a QT is to take 50% of the water from your existing already cycled tank, add 50% new saltwater (freshly made) and take a used sponge prefilter or regular filter and use that on your filtration on the QT tank, this is the way to quickly set up a QT tank and have it already Bio ready for fish. Make sure the temp and salinity and Ph are all very close to the main show tank to limit anothe acclimation period from the QT to the Show tank after 2-4 weeks.

Also, don't worry about putting any rock in... Use some PVC lengths or couplings to give the fish places to hide... That way if you ever have to treat with chemicals, you won't be nuking any rock...

I totally agree with the whole pvc thing... great idea, especially when u have to treat... the thing about a qt that u gotta remember tho is the environment is smaller and even a small amount of nitrates or other toxins can ruin a perfectly good tank of life... u've gotta keep up with doing tests everyday, sometimes twice a day when using chems to treat... change the water every few days by adding ur show tanks good water to ur qt tank... and please put a little gravel in the bottom of the qt, just for bacteria purposes, it'll save u big headache... i lost 2of these to my ignorance of my qt tanks needs... my pearlscale butterflies... and they were beautiful too
