It's coming to life... Yesterday morning I got algae growing in my tank! There's life!!!! Now I just have to get my canopy vented to get the air temp down and then H2O temp down to 80-ish... I posted in the DIY section about venting my canopy. My water temp is running between 84-90 - usually around 86-88... I keep my house at 78 in the day and 75 at night. I'll never get inverts at those temps. Trying to avoid the chiller.
Two full weeks into the start up, I have:
pH - 7.8
NH3 - 0
NO2 - 0.25
NO3 - ~100
The green algae is really cranking up now, most of the coralline algae that was on my LR two weeks ago has blanched, but I am starting to see a bit perk up. Then again, the guy shipped it FedEx Ground from Florida to my house in SoCal. It took a full week. On arrival, most every piece still had wet news paper, but a fair bit of work getting the dead stuff off. Two pieces that I got of Tonga branch were essentially dry on arrival. I've stopped adding the Purple Up that my LFS and rock dealer recommended in hopes that the pH would rise. It didn't. Today, I added some pH buffer to try and get it back up. It's been 7.8 since I took my readings last weekend.
The water still isn't crystal clear. It has a greenish cast to it, and if you look through the tank on the lengthwise view, it does appear cloudy.
