Default help on ID of mystery things in LR

hey guys, i've found 2 things in my liverock that i just can't seem to get info on... i've only seen them once, and they're at 2 different spots of the same piece of rock... one was small and brown, the other was bigger, black, and if i remember correctly, it had a white tip... well, the first one, it was just a tube like thing that would reach out of a hole, the end would open up, then close, and it would withdraw back into the hole and repeat.... the other one, i saw it last night, only for a second, right after i had turned the lights on... and i only saw it go into the hole...

just a list of other things i have found are :
a snail of some sort (i think its a small cerith, black, cone-shaped shell)
either isopods or copepods I THINK; they range in size from barely noticeable to pretty big for being "bugs".. they're whitish grey, maybe they're just transparent, i started off only seeing a few of them, and they were all real small... but now they're all over the place
bristleworms - more than i want, i don't even like the way they look, so i'd like to get rid of all of them, but just because of the number of them, i don't want to fool with it.. just seems too tedious... these are two colors tho... part pinkish, the other part blue/black...
i've got an aiptasia that i know i need to get rid of asap, but i think i'll wait and just get a peppermint shrimp because, like the worms and "bugs", i don't feel like reaching down, pulling the rock up, and squirting him with some stuff that might end up ruining the rest of the aquarium.. i don't have a steady hand at all, and if i use joes juice or something like that, that uses a syringe, i'll get jumpy and probably squirt the stuff all over the place... and of course, he's at the lowest part of the aquarium, on the very bottom of the rock, basically on the sand... since he's the only one i see, and since he's so far down, could i just smother him with the sand? or will he free himself from the rock, and dig through and find another place?
oh, and i've got a small clam that i didn't notice until the other day, when he was opened up pretty wide, and i tapped him with my algae scraper... he closed up really fast, and since then he's just been barely cracked open...
i think that's all i've found so far... other than the obvious stuff that i noticed before i bought it, like a mushroom coral (which dissappeared shortly after putting the LR in my tank)... oh, there's also a really cool patch of stuff, i don't know if its a coral, type of algae or some kind of seagrass, but its still alive and well! probably the size of a dime, and it looks just like a thick patch of grass

umm, that's about it... i'm still amazed that just about everytime i go to study it, i still find something new! i'd like to find something else though... maybe another snail, or a hermit crab, or a starfish or something like that... something that moves around the tank, but doesn't look like a bug or worm... but those pods, that's what a mandarin would eat, right? with as many of them as i have, i find it hard to believe that i should wait a year to make sure i have enough to keep the mandarin happy... by then, i'd have so many that they'd be piled up everywhere and overflowing the tank! i mean, its only been a week since i've put in the liverock, and there's already that much!

Sounds like the little brown one could be a tube worm (feather duster) and the larger one could be a peanut worm, if it looked like it was streatching out from the rock to the substrate. Both of these guys are very good for the tank

ok, new update! hehe
the clam was a false alarm... i think it was dead to begin with, because last night after posting, i went to examine the aquarium again, and i took my scraper and tapped it to see if it would move, and it didn't... but i could easily lift the top part up... so i did until it broke off, and all that was inside was a little dirt..

i'm not sure of those were feather dusters... i'm sure they could have been, but i just always pictured them as having the big radiole things on the ends...

i did however find an actual fanworm... it had the curled up hard tube, and a bright red radiole on the end! i think its one of these fellas : http://liveaquaria.com/product/prod_...cfm?pCatId=540

oh yeah, and another thing, i think these are teeny tiny dusters, cuz there's a small tube coming out of the LR, with a white dot on the end... and it looked like spiderwebs coming out of it... but i touched it with (once again) the scraper, and the white dot went down into the tube... oh, and this tube is really hard, i would say as hard as the rock itself...

yea, i remember the thrills of finding stuff in the mornings... 1st off tho twan, if u want these things to live, u should probably stop poking them... LoL, even with a scrapper... the feather worms are great and they get really nice once they're big... as for the coco worm(fan worm)... may or may not be, but i know they need like near perfect conditions to thrive so u may lose him if your not careful... the worms and parasites can be easily taken care of by getting an arrow crab... cheap, super nice to look at and quite hardy... they will even clean ur fish of any parasites... thats my next purchase.. they're like 13 bucks but not many retailers carry them... ur best bet is on the web... he'll eat every parasite outta there in a quick minute from what i read... another quick way to at least get rid of the worms is a little fresh water dip, it won't hurt the stuff in ur rock but send the worms out of they're hiding spots quick, then just pull them out with something... NOT UR HANDS!! some species sting... hope this helps

alright, lesson learned... quit harrassing the inhabitants...

would an arrow crab eat/kill the aiptasia, like the peppermint shrimp? better yet, would there be a problem with having both in the aquarium?

oh yeah, and about the supposed coco worm.. if he does die from un-perfect water conditions, it won't necessarily be my fault, because the tank is cycling, so i can't have perfect conditions... still a shame tho... i don't think he'd get big anyway... unless he starts growing out of the rock... right now, even the head (the "feather" part) is still in the crack of the rock... but i can't complain if he doesn't make it.. i mean, he came with the rock, but it would be nice if he did grow to a big'un

and as for buying on the web, all of my fish and crabs, snails, shrimp, etc. will come from online, i just don't trust any LFS's around here with fish... however, when i had my freshwater, the majority of my danios and cories lived the whole time, even when i cut everything off (no lights, no filters, no food)... for about a month... then i finally just emptied the whole thing for my marine aquarium! (i know i'm bad for doing this but can ya forgive me?)
